DESCRIPTION: Distortion is seen on the bottom of some of the

letters in the EPU. Trail lines are seen on the bottom of the ERICA

of AMERICA. Distortion is seen on the bottom of the E and N of

CENT. Step distortion is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The

oddest direction is 170 degrees.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate to strong trail lines are seen from the EPU, STATES, OF, AMERI of AMERICA, and the tops of the columns.

The offset direction is 330 degrees. This die is very similar to others

 for 1998P and care must be taken not to confuse them. The die

 markers and strength of the trails for each are different.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”,  Obverse is MDS – A nice remnant of

                                              A die clash is seen next to the chin

                                              and lips.

                                              Reverse is MDS – Strong die gouges   

                                              (most likely feeder finger damage)

                                              can be seen running southeast on the

                                              right side of the reverse. Light die

                                              scratches are seen in all the memorial

                                              bays.

DESCRIPTION: Trails with an offset direction of 70 degrees can be seen from EPU, parts of STATES, of, A from AMERICA, the designer’s initials (FG), the east stylobate, right urn, upper portions of some columns, the bottom of the building, and NT from CENT.

Additionally, at an offset direction of 275 degrees, trails come off of the lower SW corner of NE from ONE and the upper NW corners of ENT from CENT. The obverse is listed as 1998 1DEO-015T and also has duel trails, thus this die pair has four sets of trails. This die is very similar to 1998-1DER-034T and comparison photos are below.
