I was born in New York in the year 1943 and was drawn into the hobby of philately, by my parents who were both collectors, at the young age of 7. Even at this age, I began specializing in United States stamps, especially those with errors and odd postage marks. I continued to collect stamps until I went into the service in 1962.

With the Vietnamese War escalating at that time, I decided to enlist in the United States Navy. For the next 21 years I was involved with the Submarine Service, serving on submarines in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. During my service time, I also became a qualified instructor and taught the aspects of anti-submarine warfare. I retired in 1982 from my last command in Hawaii. After spending another 13 years in the Aloha state, my wife Jeanie and I moved to Florida where we now reside.

Once again the collecting bug bit me; however, this time the hobby of choice was numismatics. My interest in variety coins increased dramatically with my discovery of a 2004 Lincoln cent, with an obverse/reverse doubled die, which had been given to Jeanie as change in our local Wal-mart store.

It was just before the finding of the 2004 doubled die that I became involved with wavy steps, finding the third date. a 1999 Lincoln cent that had this type die anomaly. Ever since that time, I have dedicated most of my free time into solving the riddle of this variety die. This endeavor has brought me to this point, establishing an internet site that deals strictly with this fasinating new anomaly.

I am also fortunate to have a wife, who has shown an interest in coin collecting, although her taste runs to gold coins. I am an active member of ANA, Central Florida Coin Club (VP),CONECA, Florida United Numismatists, NCADD (Editor for "The HUB") and Numismatists Literary Guild. I am also a moderater on the CONECA forum and an attributer for Coppercoins.

My name is Bob Piazza, currently a staff member, attributer, photographer, and forum moderator for coppercoins.com.  I have been actively involved in numismatics for the past 40 years.  My passion is variety collecting although I do dabble in the error aspect of the hobby as well. I maintain a very large collection of Lincoln cent varieties.

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1956 where I grew up until enlisting in the US Air Force.  I served over 22 years in the Air Force until retiring as a First Sergeant in 1996.  Since my retirement, I have worked as a home builder in Northwest Florida.

I am well known in a lot of numismatic circles for my work with Charles Daughtrey and coppercoins.  I have been involved in maintaining the coppercoins web site, as well as contributing stories, data, and photography to that web site and many other printed books and guides.

I have known BJ Neff for a number of years and have followed his work with trails and wavy steps from the very beginning.  I thought it was only natural to assist him in this endeavor.
