Medals With Trail Dies

 

“APOLLO 4”, Fortieth Anniversary Medal


Trails are seen on the NASA side of this medal. The stars, N and A of NASA and “This medallion —- flown” show trail lines that are in an offset direction of 300° from the horizontal plane of the acronym NASA. This trail die anomaly was discovered by Ted Kruelski of Virginia.

 

 

Washington Medal

DESCRIPTION:  This medal has trails in the direction of 030° and 210° on reverse.

Kennedy Medal

DESCRIPTION: This Kennedy medal has trails in two different directions, 100° and 280°on the reverse.

Jefferson Medal

This is another medal (Jefferson) that shows the same type of trail lines on the reverse die. The high reflectivity of the surface makes it difficult to show all the design elements that do have trails.
