Sacagawea Dollar Reverse Dies With Trails

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen from the top of the E of the motto, on some stars, and on the AR of DOLLAR.  The offset direction is 030 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, Obverse is MDS – Very minor die gouges under the Y of LIBERTY.

Reverse is MDS – A small die gouge next to the M of AMERICA.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the letters in the motto EPU, the stars on the left side, the tips of the feathers on the right wing of the eagle, the word ONE and the UNIT of UNITED. The offset direction for this trail die is 330º.

 

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C “, obverse is LDS – small die dots are seen in and around the G of GOD and the first T of TRUST.

 

Reverse is LDS – a light die scratch is seen just to the left of the O in OF.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the stars under the word UNITED and STATES. The offset direction is 060º.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – a die crack extends from the bridge of Sacagawea’s nose and down through her lips.

Reverse is LDS – there is an abraded die clash through the motto EPU.

2011P(SAC)-100DER-001T             080 & 160° 

DESCRIPTION: This reverse on a Sacagawea dollar coin has two sets of trail lines. The first set, with an offset direction of 080° can be seen from the thumb of the hand holding the peace pipe and the end letters of WAMPANOAG TREATY. The date of 1621 also has trail lines. The second set, which has an offset direction of 160°, can be seen from the bottom of the letters in WAMPANOAG TREATY, the ends of the rawhide strips from the cuff and the designer’s initials.
