DESCRIPTION: This is a LDS die that had plating problems with the copper shell to the zinc core. However, trail lines can still be detected from the top of the letters BERT of LIBERTY.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C” – obverse is LDS – the S of TRUST has a die scratch on its lower terminus.

Reverse is LDS – An old die gouge is seen to the immediate right of the D in UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: Short, weak trail lines are seen from the top of all the letters in LIBERTY except the Y. The offset direction is 340 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die damage is seen between the 9 and 8 of the date and above and to the right of the mint mark.

Reverse is LDS – none noted.

 

1987D-1DEO-003T                                    300°

DESCRIPTION:  Very faint trail lines are seen from the TRUS of TRUST. The offset direction is 300 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen above the 7 of the date.

Reverse is LDS – a small die dot is seen below the second U of PLURIBUS.
