DESCRIPTION: A single fluting line extension, causing step deviation, under column # 7, with an offset direction of 200 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouge to the left of the bust bottom.

Reverse is MDS – small die gouge to the left of the T in UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under column 3. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. Also note the warping of the stairs typical of the years 1989 through 1992

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die chip on the button hole.

Reverse is MDS – small die gouge on the right side of the I in UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate step deviation under columns  5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. This die was found by Steven Bingham of Missouri.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none observed.

Reverse is LDS – two small die gouges between the A and T of STATES.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate step deviation under columns 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. This die was found by Steven Bingham of Missouri.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none observed.

Reverse is LDS – two small die gouges between the A and T of STATES.

DESCRIPTION: Simple trails die with two trail lines from the left top corners of the E and R of AMERICA. There is also one cross over trail from the middle arm of the E. The offset direction is 330 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – none noted

Reverse is EDS – none noted.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen on the ED of UNITED, the S and TE of STATES and the left area of EPU. The offset direction is 300º.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – small die dot above the mint mark. Die gouge under the 8 digit of the date.

Reverse is LDS – small die dot on the left side of the D in UNITED.

 

1989D-1DER-007                              300°

DESCRIPTION: A minor trails die that shows trails only on the NE of ONE. The offset direction is 330º.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, Obverse is MDS – A die gouge shows next to the rim to the right of the last T in TRUST.

Reverse is MDS – None observed.

NOTE: This die was found by Bob Piazza.

 

1989D-1DER-008T                                   330°

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the motto EPU, the tops of the columns on the right side of the Memorial building, the right side cornice and the ERICA of AMERICA. The offset direction is 330°. This trail die has a RPM (1989D-1MM-019, Coppercoins.com) and is the first trail die coupled with this type of die anomaly.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – die gouges are seen above the T in LIBERTY.

Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen under the U of UNITED. This is also RPM 198D-1MM-019.

1989D-1DER-009T                              130°

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines can be seen on the SE corners of most letters in EPU with an offset direction of 128 degrees. This die is also a DDR showing extra thickness in all outside devices and is listed as 1989D-1DR-008 on Coppercoins.com.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – die scratches through WE

Reverse is MDS – diagonal die scratches through CENT, strongest toward the periphery of the coin. Reverse is a DDR listed as 1989D-1DR-008.
