DESCRIPTION: Two set of trail lines are seen on this dual directional trail die. The first and strongest set has trail lines (with black arrows) from the left side letters in EPU, The first S in STATES the word UNITED the left corner of the cornice the top left corners of the left side columns, the left corners of the stylobate and the N and E of ONE. The offset direction for this set of trails is 320 degrees.

The second and weaker set has trail lines (with white arrows) from the MERI of AMERICA, the right corner of the roof, the right corner of the cornice, the right corners of the stylobate, the designer’s initials and the word CENT. The offset direction of this set is 080 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is LMDS – a die gouge is seen under the G of GOD.

Reverse is LMDS – a small die gouge is seen in the upper part of bay 11.

DESCRIPTION: Faint trail lines are seen from the letters in STATES and the EPU. The offset direction is 330 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen just to the left of the 1 digit in the date.

Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen over the E in UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen from the NIT of UNITED and the left portion of the EPU. The offset direction is 300 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “D “, obverse is VLDS – small die gouges are seen in and around the date and mint mark.

Reverse is LDS – a pair of die dots are seen in the N of UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: This is a dual direction trail die. Distortion is seen on the top of the letters of the EPU. The offset direction appears to be 350 degrees for this set of trail lines. The other set of trail lines is seen on the word UNITED the left corners of the cornice and the roof of the Lincoln Memorial building and the NE of ONE. This set has an offset direction of 260 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen to the of the mint mark.

Reverse is MDS – a heavy die scratch is seen under the R of PLURIBUS. Die damage is seen under the S of PLURIBUS.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the UNIT of UNITED, the left corner of the cornice, the ST of STATES and the letter on the left side of the motto EPU. The offset direction is 330 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C “, obverse is LDS – two die dots are seen around the R of LIBERTY.

Reverse is LDS – die damage is seen above the right corner of the cornice.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen on the word UNITED and the left corners of the stylobate and Memorial building base. The offset direction is 270 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – die damage is seen on Lincolns forehead line.

Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to above and to the left of the O in OF

DESCRIPTION: This is a dual directional trail die. The first indication of trails can be seen on the UNI of UNITED and the NE of ONE. This set has an offset direction of 270 degrees. The second set can be seen on the letters of EPU and the AMERI of AMERICA. This set has an offset direction of 030 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “D “, obverse is VLDS – a small die gouge is seen in the left jacket lapel.

Reverse is VLDS – die damage is seen over the first T in STATES.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the motto EPU the words UNITED STATES and the tops of the left side columns. The offset direction is 330°.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – three small die gouges are seen in Lincoln’s vest. Another die gouge is seen above the first 9 digit in the date.

Reverse is MDS – none noted.
