Reverse is MDS – none noted.

DESCRIPTION: Very light trails from the tops of the E and P of EPU with an offset angle direction of 300 degrees. This die was found by Bob Piazza of Florida.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die dot above the last 9 in the DATE on the obverse.

Reverse is MDS – small die gouge below the left base of the Memorial building on the reverse.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7, and 8.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B” – obverse is MDS – none observed.

Reverse is MDS – die dot next to the left side of column # 1. Die dot to the right of the T in CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Letter distortion is seen on the right side of some letters in EPU. Short trail lines are seen from the tops of the right side columns.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none noted.

Reverse is LDS – Die crack in the stairs below column 9. Die cracks are seen from the tops of columns8 and 9 entering into the stylobate Two die gouges are seen near the E of UNITED.

NOTE: This die was found by Joseph Koelling.

 

1994D-1DER-017WS                                  190°

DESCRIPTION:  Fluting line extension is seen entering into the stylobate under columns 2 and 3. Sharp, moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The offset direction is 190 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.

Reverse is MDS – a series of small die gouges is seen under bay 1 and column 2. A small die dot is seen on the lower left side of the N in CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Small trail lines are seen on some of the sides of the letters in EPU. Moderate trail lines are seen on the CET of CENT. The offset direction is 060 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – two small die gouges are seen; one under the I of IN and one under the G of GOD.

Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen on the lower left side of the N in ONE.

                                  STAGE “A” ABOVE         STAGE “C” BELOW

DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines are seen from the top left corners of the letters in the EPU. Notice that the later die state does not show the intensity of those lines. Stage “A” also shows trail lines from the word STATES, and the left side corners of the roof and cornice of the Memorial building. The offset direction is 350 degrees.

DIE MARKES: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – die damage is seen above the O of GOD.

Reverse is EDS – none noted.

Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die damage is still present above the O of GOD but less intense.

Reverse is LDS – a small die gash is seen on the lower right side of the last column. Another die gash is seen between the N and T of CENT next to the rim.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the last letters in STATES, the o in OF the center portion of the motto EPU, the middle of the cornice and the tops of the mid columns in the Memorial building. The offset direction is 350º.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “A“, obverse is LEDS – a small die dot is seen below the W of WE.

Reverse is LEDS – a small die gouge is seen in the lower part of the C in CENT.
