DESCRIPTION: Strong trail lines from the letters on LIBERTY with an offset direction of 270 degrees. Moderate to light trail lines from the letters of IN GOD and light trail lines from the letters of WE.

1994P-1DEO-002T                                     290°

DESCRIPTION: Light trails from the tops of the BERTY of LIBERTY. Notice the saw tooth pattern on the verticals of the B, E and R of LIBERTY. This is typical of trail dies as the 90 degree angle, formed by the junction of the horizontal bar and the vertical bar, crosses over a letter. The offset direction is 290 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – moderate to strong die scratches through LIBERTY and the DATE.

Reverse is LDS – die crack on the base of column 3.

 

1994P-1DEO-003T                          090°, 100°

DESCRIPTION: While it is obvious that the trails from LIBERTY are in a slightly different direction than the trails on the date, it is almost a certainty that the die motion across the hub caused both sets of trails. The trails from the word LIBERTY have an offset direction of 100 degrees and the trails on the date have an offset direction of 090º. This die was found by Mary Fantauzzo of New York.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die scratch in front of Lincoln’s eyes. Die scratching is also seen under Lincoln’s chin down to the bow tie.

Reverse is MDS – none noted.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen on the lower left corners of the letters LIBER in LIBERTY. The offset direction is 190 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – diagonal die scratching is seen on most of the obverse, with the heaviest being under the word WE.

Reverse is LMDS – a die clash is seen in bay 7, which goes hand in hand with the die abrasions  seen on the obverse.

DESCRIPTION: Light, short trail lines are seen from the bottoms of the last three digits in the date. The offset direction is 220 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.

Reverse is MDS – die gouge next to the left edge of the Memorial building base. A series of four die dots are seen around the right corner of the Memorial building base.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines, with some extra thickness on the letters are seen in the word LIBERTY. Stage “B”, which was found at a later date, shows some trail lines from the words IN GOD as well as LIBERTY. The offset direction is 280 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die gouge next to the left side of the L in LIBERTY.

Reverse is MDS – none noted

Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none noted.

Reverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen under the U of UNITED. A die crack is seen between the U and N of UNUM

DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines are seen coming off some of the top and bottom left corners of the letters in LIBERTY. The offset direction is 270 degrees. This is a combination die with trails also seen on the reverse; see die 1994P-1DER-063T.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – heavy die scratching is seen above the date and LIBERTY.

Reverse is MDS – heavy die scratching is seen above ONE and CENT.

 1994P-1DEO-008T                        060º, 240°

DESCRIPTION: Very heavy trail lines are seen from the TRU of TRUST, with moderate trail lines seen on the word WE. Also note that this is a dual directional trail die with trail lines seen in the opposite direction on the bottom of the letters affected. The offset direction is 060 and 240 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen under the B of LIBERTY. Two small die cracks are seen from the lower left corners of the E and R of LIBERTY

Reverse is LDS – two die dents are seen below the word ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen on the top left corners of the letters LIBER of LIBERTY. The offset direction is 000 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die damage is seen on the lower part of Lincoln’s bust.

Reverse is LDS – a die dent is seen in bay 7

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen form the IBE of LIBERTY. The offset direction is 270 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “D “, obverse is VLDS – a die dot is seen in the upper loop of the B in LIBERTY. A die dent, caused by a “struck through a foreign object” is seen through the T of LIBERTY. A die dot is on the outside of the upper loop of the first 9 digit in the date.

Reverse is VLDS – a die chip is seen the on left side of the T in CENT
