Reverse is MDS – die dots in the O of ONE. Die gouges to the left of the C and to the right of the A in AMERICA.

Reverse is VLDS – die gouge in bay 1. Die gouge to the right of the O in ONE.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is MDS – none observed.

Reverse is LDS – long die scratch from the D of UNITED to the U of UNUM. Die scratches through ONE and CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 2 and 3. Light to moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die dot over the6 of the date.

Reverse is MDS – die chip in the lower part of column 12.

NOTE: This die was found by Patrick Gaughan of Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION: Trails from the tops of the letters in EPU, the word STATES and the tops of the columns. This is similar to other 1996P trail dies with a direction of 340º; however, the die markers are different.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is VLDS – die dot over the E in LIBERTY. Die scratches under Lincoln’s chin.

Reverse is MDS – die gouges around the U and under the N of UNITED. Die gouge between the M and E of AMERICA.

NOTE: This die was found by Jimmy Ehrhart of Florida.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the tops of the letters in EPU. Trail lines are also seen from the tops of the letters in STATES and OF. The offset direction is 340 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is LMDS – die dot below Lincoln’s eye.

Reverse is LMDS- small die gouge on the inside left of the O in ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the NE of ONE, the ENT of CENT, and all the letters in AMERICA, EPU and the word STATES. Trail lines are also seen, but not shown from the left corner of the roof on the Memorial building. All the trail lines have an offset direction of 240 degrees.

Reverse is MDS – die clash in bays 8 and 9 

Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – none noted.

Reverse is LMDS – die gouge between the S and T of STATES. Die gouge to the right of the T in CENT.

DESCRIPTION:  Relatively strong trails lines on the AMER of AMERICA, decreasing in strength from left to right. The trail lines have an offset direction of 200 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, Obverse is MDS – Light die scratches run N-S behind the head.

Reverse is MDS – Moderate to strong die scratches inside the entire Memorial bays. A long die scratch runs southeast from the first S in STATES.

NOTE: This die was found by Bob Piazza of Florida.

DESCRIPTION: Some trail lines are seen from the right bottom corners of the R in PLURIBUS and also the NUM of UNUM. Also seen are trail lines from the E of ONE. The offset direction is 140 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – two groups of small die gouges between the words IN and LIBERTY.

Reverse is LDS – two die gouges on either side of the T in CENT.

NOTE: This die was found by Louis Schaeffer.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines are seen from the letters in STATES, the MER of AMERICA, the EPU and the tops of the middle columns and the scroll work in the cornice. The offset direction of all the trail lines is 330 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – none noted

Reverse is LDS – a die gouge is seen below the first S of STATES. A die gouge is seen next to the rim to the left of the N in ONE.
