DESCRIPTION: Faint trail are seen from the word GOD. The offset direction is 060 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to the right of the D in GOD.

Reverse is MDS – two small die gouges are seen around the CA of AMERICA.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST. The trail lines are affected by metal flow since this is a late stage die. Earlier stages may show just trail lines without the additional metal flow lines. This die is very similar to 1998P-1DEO-006T and 1998P-1DEO-010T. The offset direction is 000 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a die dot is seen in the field below the R of LIBERTY.

Reverse is LDS – extensive die damage is seen on the right side of the coin. Die scrapes are seen in bays 8 and 11 as well as under the memorial building.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines, mixed in with die deterioration lines, can be seen from the letters of IGWT. While to die deterioration lines are radial in direction, the trail lines have an offset direction of 000 degrees. This die is also matched with a reverse trail die; 1998P-1DER-049T.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die scratches can be seen forward of Lincoln’s bow tie. There is a small die gouge on top of the first 9 digit in the date.

Reverse is LDS – a die gouge is seen on the bottom of column 1. There are die scrapes from the base of the Lincoln Memorial building, down to the N in CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Mushy, thick trail lines are seen from the tops of the letters in LIBERTY and from the tops of the digits in the date. The offset direction is 030 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a rim dent is seen over the U of TRUST. A die gouge is seen between the S and T of TRUST

Reverse is LDS – none noted.

 

1998P-1DEO-015T                   130°, 330°

DESCRIPTION: Trails can be seen from RST from TRUST, E from WE and also ERT from LIBERTY at an offset direction of 135 degrees. Meanwhile at an offset direction of 330 degrees trails can be seen on BER of LIBERTY and D WE T from IGWT. The reverse is also a duel trail die thus this die pair has four sets of trails. NOTE: this is die pairing is similar to 1998-1DER-034T/1DEO-002T (the overlay shows a green arrow for 002T/034T & a red arrow for this die 015T).

DESCRIPTION: Long trail lines are seen from the tops of the letters in LIBERTY, the date and slightly off of UST in TRUST. The offset direction is 350 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouges around date; long crack starting at rim going through lapel past the bow tie; gouge near eye; crack at nose edge

Reverse is MDS – gouges near the T in CENT.

 

1998P-1DEO-017T                                            030°

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the date and the word LIBERTY. The offset direction is 030°. This is a major trail die.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a die crack is seen in Lincoln’s forehead.

Reverse is LDS – abrasion lines are seen in the bays of the Memorial building to remove die clash marks.
