DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10 and 11. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5 through 8, with an offset direction of 170 degrees. Also seen are faint trail lines from the bottom of the letters in UNUM. There is not that much difference in line intensity between the two stages; however, there are added die makers that do separate the two.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouge under the T and R of TRUST. Die gouge under the E of WE

Reverse is MDS – die crack on the top of column 4.

Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die crack in Lincoln’s forehead.

Reverse is LDS – die chips in column1, 2 and the top of 3. Die crack in column 1 and the cornice over bay 3.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate, multiple fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10 and 11. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5 through 8, with an offset direction of 170 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none observed.

Reverse is MDS – die gouge in the O of ONE. Die scratch in the C of AMERICA.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10 and 11.  Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, with an offset direction of 170 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none observed

Reverse is MDS – die crack in and over column 4. Die crack in cornice over bay 1 and 2. Die damage in the arch over bay 1. Die damage on the left side of the T in CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5 thru 8, with emphasis on the right side.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – two die dots low and to the right of Lincoln’s bust.

Reverse is LDS – two die chips above Bay 1.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die damage between the I and N of IN.

Reverse is MDS – die gouge right of the designer’s initials.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, is seen under columns 10 and 11. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 4 through 8, with an offset direction of 170 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die damage as a row of small gouges from the field into the back of Lincoln’s head.

Reverse is MDS – small extra seventh column left.

NOTE: This is a doubled die due to the extra column.
