DESCRIPTION: A very unusual wavy step that shows elements of step deviation under all columns of the Memorial building. There is a split serif on the C of AMERICA. The coin pictured is a mid die state and shows weakness in the middle stairs under columns, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Earlier die state coins have better definition in this area. There is also fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10, 11 and 12, indicated by the stylobate’s levels being bent in a downwards direction.

Distortion and elongated serifs are seen in both directions (north and south) on most of the letters in EPU

The word AMERICA shows elongated serifs on the bottom right corners of those letters and split serifs on the letter C. This is similar to what is seen on 19995P-1DER-0015WST.

Distortion is also seen on the lower part of the O and N of ONE and the E and N of CENT.

The F in OF and the designer’s initials have short trail lines. Notice the similarity in the designer’s initials to those that occurred in die 1994P-1DER-001WST
